We all have been there – that realization that suddenly struck you… I shouldn’t have smoked that last joint, I shouldn’t have eaten that last bite of hash brownie. It’s easy to get too much THC in your system, the experience can immediately turn from “super chill” to “not funny at all” – but how can you help someone when they had too much cannabis?

Stop panicking
We know, it’s easier said than done – but making sure that you remain as calm as possible after you had too much cannabis is the best advice you can give someone. There is no way that you will remain this high for too long, so realizing that this will eventually pass is the best place to start. After all – you wanted to get high, didn’t you?
Tell yourself (or the person that is currently too high) that this super-high state is temporary and everything will be fine. If that actually happens, you might even enjoy the level of high you got yourself in to!
Take a shower
Even though, it’s not always available – a nice shower will always lower the effects of cannabis. Actually, this is one of the fastest working and strongest remedies to lower unwanted THC effects. Not only this will make you relax, but there is also something magical about standing under the stream – it rejuvenates you. And this is what you want, don’t you?
Have some sugar
First and one of the best remedies for getting too high is consuming a large amount of sugar. The easiest way might be to just mix a couple of spoons of plain sugar, with some water, and just drink it. It might sound and taste nasty, but there is nothing better than making sure that glucose will be absorbed by your body as fast as possible.
Other ways of lowering the high can be more basic – eat something sweet, have a sweet drink or consume anything that is calorie-rich, and contains vast amounts of glucose. But this can be sometimes more difficult to do.
The simple sugar-water combination is also should be the first step in sobering someone up if they lose their consciousness from getting too high (yeah, that happens). After you wake them up, or just before they pass out – make sure they drink the whole thing. As their blood glucose levels will rise, they will feel better. And as soon as they feel at least a little bit better…
Go for a walk
Even better – do some sports. We know, this sounds completely crazy – getting way too high and then going for a jog… The truth is, that as soon as you start pumping that blood – you will start feeling better. And the more exercise your body gets, the faster you will fully sober up from the cannabis you had.
If you don’t want to exercise – a simple fast-paced walk will do the trick. Walking will not only help your body to deal with the excess of THC it has to deal with, but your mind will also get a break by changing the scenery. And that is good, because…
Distract yourself
One way to help your racing super-high mind is walking around, but any distraction will help you in this case. Especially if that distraction is something you love. Watch some cartoons you love, eat the food you like, turn some nice music on, snuggle or talk with someone. The reason you don’t like this high-out-of-my-skull experience is that your mind is going in circles. Whatever thoughts make you stressed or paranoid is just running in loops – breaking that look with distractions is another good way to combat overly highness.
Take some CBD
This is a long shot, but if you happen to have some CBD oil on hand – take some. You can’t overdose on CBD, so 40-200mg of pure cannabidiol could be a good remedy for battling your highness. It will not only help you relax, but your endocannabinoid system functions better when THC and CBD are consumed in equal amounts. It is a pity, that most modern-day cannabis strains have CBD almost fully wiped out from their composition – CBD works as a counterweight to THC and softens the experience by making it much more pleasant. Drink loads of water
This could have been the first tip on the list, but it’s so obvious that we saved it for later. So, whenever you don’t feel right – drinking water should be your first thought. Dehydration is one of the most common side-effects of cannabis, luckily you can fight back easily – just make sure you are not drinking alcohol, coffee, tea, or soft drinks as all of these drinks make you even more dehydrated.
Pro-tip on drinking water – drink as much as you possibly can, and then.. drink one full glass more. This will make sure that all your bodily functions are up and going again.
Go to bed
If any of the tips listed above seems impossible to achieve – just get comfy. The state you are now in will pass without doing anything, so if you can’t see yourself helping in any other way… At least make sure you are comfy – this will allow you to relax. And what is more comfortable than being in your bed?
Consume responsibly
Last and best advice we have is simple – start slow and stay low. There’s no better remedy than not getting too high in the first place. You can do that by smoking less than you think you need. Especially if you are smoking something you have never smoked before – it’s easy to roll one more joint if you think you need it, but it might be quite difficult to come back down from the moon after you got too high.
